I cannot stand the smell of air freshners.
I find them really offputting plus they are not good for ones health anyway.

Everyone suddenly seems to be getting shutters is this a new trend

To be honest, it always amazes me that people looking at houses don't see past the decor! When we were house hunting I looked at ceiling height, room layout, what the floorboards were like under the carpets, blah blah... I knew we'd redecorate anyway so the wall colour was totally irrelevant. It's odd that people say "oh this room seems small / dark" and don't actually measure it, or go and draw the net curtains back from the windows to see what happens when light comes in! Ho hum... probably it all has an unconscious effect, i expect if I were selling now I'd still go mad with the magnolia, just in case...

Although I agree with some of the comments, wouldn't it be boring if every house had the same decor? In another few years things wil have changed again in home interiors fashion.

The House should smell nice and inviting, if you have pets, don't let the house smell of them, use some nice pot pourri, plug in air fresheners. have fresh flowers, nice foliage plants, outside hanging baskets, (look after them) there is nothing more off putting than seeing dead flowers

If you are wanting to sell your home neutral colours are a must.
It makes me scream when I see houses on the property market with mish mash decor. I mean if you really want to get the buyers in then you're going to have to accept that dated wallpaper and mismatched dressings just will not do. Invest in a few tins of magnolia paint and a good roller, and swap those dated carpets for the oh so miminilistic wooden flooring. And for goodness sakes get rid of those awful 'net curtains', they hide your beautiful windows and block out all the natural light. If you can't afford modern blinds then just go for neat pencil pleat or ring top curtains, WITHOUT the nasty nets.
The kitchen has got to be the hub of any house so make it appealing... please. If it looks drab then brighten it up with neutral coloured units and a nice clean modern floor. Patterened vinyl flooring is so way out of touch and will only go to put the serious buyers off.
As with the bathrooms, at least present them in a clean manner, and remember stick to white or cream coloured suites and tiles. Burgandy and avacado bathrooms are oh so eighties style, and black is not everyone's cup of tea.
Remember if you want to sell your house you have to make it appealing to the buyers, your personal taste may not be that appealing to everyone. So keep it neutral and consistent styling throughout.
I agree with the fact that 'personal taste' is well... 'personal' and if someone is considering to sell a property they should stick to neutral decor, keep it simple, contempary and consistant throughout the house.
Yes and offer a little bit of outside space, even a window space for pots. We have recently been house hunting and I've been amazed at house descriptions which make a feature of totally concreted over gardens as 'low maintenance'

I am stuck as I have such lovely soft red deep rich colour two settees one is a two seater and one three seater. I large chair and matching poufe. Stunning. But the room i am going into is too small for it all and must sell. Do you think I should sell as a whole or seperatly. Not a year old. You sink into them as they are made for comfort.
anyone interersted contact me. I also have a fab wine cooler, and brand new duel fuel cooker in aliminium silver with two ovens grill and fan assisted over for sale...
