Hackney
"I have lived in Dalston for many years. While it was pretty rough around the edges, it has improved dramatically. The neighbourhood is definitely cleaner, safer and more interesting, and the rich cultural mix enriches everyone."
- Martin Whitby
"I have lived in Hackney for over 27 years now and have never regretted the decision... we love the place - quiet, close to Hackney marshes and improving transport, with the Olympics to come. We're currently in the process of buying the house next door for our grown-up children."
- Chris Spencer
"It's without doubt the best and most exciting borough to live in... every different class, ethnicity and culture. It's a crazy and fun place to be - if you were to walk up the street in a black bin liner with a shower hat on your head, nobody would mind!"
- Rose Doran
"While it is undoubtedly rough around the edges and probably not your nan's choice for a Sunday drive, there are great restaurants on Mare Street, a strong artistic community and ongoing development. A stone's throw from leafy London Fields with its popular Broadway market on Saturdays, hip Stoke Newington and fashionable Islington, the location is great, train services are decent and house prices are still affordable."

Tower Hamlets
"We love living here, minutes from Canary Wharf with an extensive array of shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment. From here we can cruise London's canals and waterways."
- Vanessa Smith
"I live in Tower Hamlets and love it."
- Rob Calcutt
Newham
"The rich mix here in East London is of great value and there is a real buzz about the regeneration of Newham and surrounding boroughs. The council provides some great facilities and the school are on the up... Our street is one of the best - neighbours chat, we have a street book club, and generally people look out for each other - again great value!"
- David Taylor
"I purchased my property in 1991, knowing full well the E16 area was a run down, typical east end borough but it was all I could afford... but the gamble paid off. It's been the wisest and most profitable of my investment choices over the years, and now with Newham becoming the ‘Olympic Borough' the future is bright and ongoing."
- Nikki Jones

I'm looking to buy in the neighbouring areas including Snaresbrook, Wanstead and South Woodford - positioned just outside the 'Olympic Zone' - they could be a great place to buy; with all the benefits from the nearby Oypmic investments but none of the hassle associated with infrastructure etc developments, and already v nice areas to live.

Hackney, the greenest and coolest borough in London. Fact.
Try a little further east past Leytonstone. Wanstead Park is one of London's best kept secrets and the high street has got a growing cafe culture
