Posting rules
The following is prohibited on our message boards, and also applies to any material linked to from our message boards.
- Postings likely to provoke or offend others
- Postings that are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate
- Postings containing swearing or abusive language and personal attacks
- The repeated submission of the same or similar posts (spamming)
- Advertising of any nature (see how to advertise on UpMyStreet)
- Use of multiple screen names
- Re-posting of banned conversation material
- Posting of material that is illegal or encourages unlawful activity, including breach of copyright, defamation and contempt of court
- Discussion of banned users
- Submission of personal contact details including email addresses and phone numbers (see private messaging)
- Inappropriate or unpleasant treatment of new users
- Use of the message boards to actively promote a political party
What happens if I break the posting rules?
Posts or threads which break the posting rules will be removed by our moderators without prior notice. First-time offenders will receive a warning by email. Any further breaches of our posting rules will result in the permanent termination of the user's access to Conversations. Attempts by banned users to continue using the Conversations message boards under a different screen name will be dealt with accordingly.
Please appreciate that our posting rules have been put in place as a safety guard to keep our message boards friendly and useful.
Safety guidelines
The UpMyStreet Conversations message boards are available to everyone on the web to view and participate in. To ensure you stay safe online, please don't reveal your contact details, or anyone else's. Users who reveal other people's contact details will be warned and potentially banned, as per our rules above. Should you wish to use private messaging, select to send and receive private messages in your user profile.
