We hope you enjoy using Conversations and to ensure you get the most from the service, check the answers below to some of our most frequently asked questions (FAQ).
Conversations is our local message boards service. We display conversations nearest to your location, giving you direct access to discussions and debate in your neighbourhood. Please join in and post your responses or start a new conversation.
All users can read the conversations and search for conversation threads. To post a message and start a conversation, you need to be registered with a screen name. Signing up is free.
All conversations are organised by location, so enter a location if you wish see conversations nearest to a particular place or postcode. If you’re looking for a particular topic, you can also search using keywords. You’ll be shown any conversation that includes the keyword and its location.
To ensure other users are always sure who they are talking to, we don’t allow screen names to be changed once registered. So please choose carefully.
Registered users can click on a screen name to see the profile of the user and conversations they’ve posted to. If a user has chosen to display their email, it’ll be displayed on this page to other users.
Registered users can request an email update which will let you know when a conversation you’re following has been updated. Please note these emails are sent once a day, not every time a post is added.
Private messages allow registered users to send a Conversations user a message without it being seen by the rest of the board.
We send the user a message by email with details about how to reply.
Neither user is shown or told the other’s email address to protect their privacy.
When you reply to a post, you’ll see the option to track the conversation. If you tick this box, the conversation will appear on your “My tracked conversations” page. You can use this page to check the progress of conversations that interest you. You can also request a daily email update to alert you to conversation updates.
