Limited right to use

UpMyStreet, however, reserves the right to review, remove and edit any email at its sole discretion. UpMyStreet may disclose any information that it deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, code, legal process or governmental request.

Provision of information

You will promptly provide UpMyStreet (free of charge) with all information and co-operation which UpMyStreet may reasonably require from time to time to enable UpMyStreet to proceed uninterrupted with the performance of UpMyStreet’s obligations under this agreement. We will respect your email privacy. You will not receive unsolicited mail from UpMyStreet.com and/or from third parties. We will, however, mail you occasionally with information concerning important changes to our service. Read our Privacy policy for more details.

Assignment/subcontracting

You shall not assign or delegate all or any of your rights or obligations under this agreement without UpMyStreet’s prior written consent, such consent not to be unreasonably withheld. UpMyStreet shall have the right to assign or transfer all or any of its rights and obligations under this agreement to any person. Save that where that person is not an associated company, UpMyStreet shall notify you prior to exercising that right of transfer. UpMyStreet may subcontract any of its obligations in this agreement.

Force majeure

Neither party shall be liable to the other under these terms and conditions, for any loss or damage which may be suffered by the other party due to any cause beyond the first party’s reasonable control including without limitation any act of God, exceptionally severe weather, failure or shortage of power supplies, flood, drought, lightning or fire, strike, lock-out, trade dispute or labour disturbance (other than those of the parties), the act or omission of government, highways authorities, other telecommunications operators or administrations or other competent authority, war, military operations, acts of terrorism or riot.

Applicable laws

These terms, the site, the Content and all use of them shall be governed by English Law, and you and UpMyStreet submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts (save that UpMyStreet may take action in relation to enforcement of its intellectual property rights in any court worldwide). Those who choose to access the site from other locations do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent that local laws are applicable. You may not use the UpMyStreet site to do anything that is not lawful in the place where you access the site.

By using UpMyStreet Conversations (the "Service") you agree that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy, or otherwise violates any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you.

Considering the real-time nature of the Service, it is impossible for UpMyStreet.com Ltd. ("UpMyStreet") to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. UpMyStreet does not vouch for or give any warranty in relation to the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages posted on the Service express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of UpMyStreet.com or anyone associated with the aforementioned.

UpMyStreet has the ability to remove objectionable messages and we reserve the right to delete any contribution, or take action against any account, at any time, for any reason. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless UpMyStreet.com Ltd. and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

UpMyStreet may disclose any information, including your identity (or whatever information we know about you) that it deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, code, legal process or governmental request. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or if you no longer wish to continue your registration as a member, or to post on the Conversations service.

Please note that in order to maintain the structure and integrity of Conversations, we do not remove the posts of users who are no longer registered members, but do remove the users’ Conversations History page from the site.

UpMyStreet Conversations - Posting guidelines

Conversations lets you get advice, share ideas, stay in touch and discuss local issues. It is open to everyone read and enjoy in a safe and fun environment. Please respect our policy on suitable content. We reserve the right to remove inappropriate posts, and to prevent users who abuse the service from posting.

1. Contributions must be civil and tasteful. Please don’t use offensive and abusive language. Be constructive and relevant in your response to postings. We reserve the right to remove any posts that other users may find offensive or that we receive complaints about.
2. We won’t allow racism, sexism, homophobia or any other material we consider inflammatory or objectionable in postings.
3. No spamming. UpMyStreet doesn’t allow the submission of the same or very similar contributions in multiple locations.
4. No advertising! If you wish to advertise on UpMyStreet.com, please refer to our site advertising.
5. We reserve the right to remove any posts that may put us in legal jeopardy, such as potentially libellous or defamatory postings.
6. While we realise politics is an important part of local life we won’t allow postings which actively encourage, canvass opinion for, or promote allegiance to any political party.
