Always use an NICEIC approved electrical contractor.
Never take mains powered appliances into the bathroom. Never touch electrical appliances with wet hands, especially plugs.
Don’t overload plug sockets. If you need to have more than one plug per socket use a fused plug board or adaptor.
Ensure all leads from electrical appliances are in good condition and not hidden from view under carpets or rugs. If a lead becomes damaged stop using the appliance and replace.
Only buy electrical equipment that has the BEAB Approved label (electrical safety mark).
When carrying out DIY always check the position of electrical cables and pipes before drilling or fixing nails.
Don’t exceed the recommended bulb wattage specified by the manufacturer.
Always ensure electrical equipment is properly ventilated. Don’t cover any ventilation holes with a cloth or by placing directly against a wall.
Only use appliances outdoors if you’ve connected them to a socket-outlet you know is protected by a residual current device (circuit breaker).
